Please note: for this workshop you need to be able to thread the machine and machine stitch in straight and curved lines.

This workshop is taking place in two sessions, one on March 25th and the second on April 1st, so make sure you can be there for both sessions before booking your Wriggle!

Fancy making your own skirt, made to measure, in your choice of material? Making your own clothes is fun, and a more ethical choice!

At this fabulously fun and informal workshop, the lovely Amy will show you how to adapt a provided paper pattern to meet your needs, and make a 50s style skirt on this one-day intensive course. You will have access to standard sewing machines and an overlocker for a professional finish.

You need to bring:

  • Your choice of a woven, light to medium weight fabric with a good width (about 147cm wide).
  • For a midi skirt, you will need 2 metres
  • For a mini skirt, you will need 1.5 metres
  • A passion for fashion and creativity and the desire to take on a challenge!

This is for a maximum of 4 students to keep the class size small, so you're guaranteed to get lots of help and attention on the day. Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided.

This workshop is taking place in two sessions, one on March 25th and the second on April 1st, so make sure you can be there for both sessions before booking your Wriggle!

About Sew Darn Good @ Unit 11 Studio

Amy studied fashion design womenswear at the London College of Fashion, graduating in 2010, and has been passionate about sewing and drawing since she was small and had dreamed of entering the world of design and making. Alongside this love of creativity she aspired to teach, and subsequently trained as a teacher of Textiles and Food Technology. These two pathways have led to expertise in the technical elements of design and making, and the ability to teach them too. At the heart of these two passions is Amy's interest in ethical and sustainable design, making and lifestyle which are united in the launch of Sew Darn Good.
