Are you interested in sewing or wish to learn the basics? Would you like to one day create your own designs? This 2-week sewing course gives you an opportunity to learn a range of creative skills - kind of like art and craft school for adults! Head over to Sew Darn Good and unleash your inner "Sewist" (that's a sew-artist in case ya didn't know).

You'll have the opportunity to learn:

  • How to make a pencil/make-up case with zip
  • How to make a cushion cover
  • How to make a doorstop
  • Applique and fabric painting

You will have access to sewing machines and all other necessary sewing equipment plus a selection of fabrics and old clothes to up-cycle, but feel free to bring your own, too!. Sew Darn Good will also introduce you to using fabric paints/appliqué to decorate your items. Fastenings such as zips and buttons are included.

This course is suitable for complete beginners – if there's a will, there's a way. Those with basic skills looking for a refresher and some inspiration are welcome too!

Practical info: There will be "official" half-hour breaks during the workshop, but you'll be free to do as you please! Please do bring a packed lunch - a microwave is available.

About Sew Darn Good

Amy studied fashion design womenswear at the London College of Fashion, graduating in 2010, and has been passionate about sewing and drawing since she was small and had dreamed of entering the world of design and making. Alongside this love of creativity she aspired to teach, and subsequently trained as a teacher of Textiles and Food Technology. These two pathways have led to expertise in the technical elements of design and making, and the ability to teach them too. At the heart of these two passions is Amy's interest in ethical and sustainable design, making and lifestyle which are united in the launch of Sew Darn Good.
