This Easter, a collection of independents from the Welsh street food scene will be battling it out for a prestigious new accolade in the form of a shiny, golden fork.
Brought to life by the same team behind the 'Street Food Circus' that takes place in Bute Park every summer, the Weekend Food Brawl is a foodie clash of the titans that will take place at Roath Yard, an abandoned milk dairy depot just off City Road.
Here at Wriggle, we like a bit of healthy competition, and so we love the sound of the 'Weekend Food Brawl'. The concept is simple; each independent trader will be asked to go all out to create a signature dish to surprise and delight hungry diners over the Easter weekend. The winning dish will be chosen at the end of the event based on social media feedback from the weekend's attendees, and the trader who created it will walk away triumphant, clutching a new piece of shiny gold cutlery as reward for their efforts.
If the pressure of judging all of that delicious street food takes its toll, refreshment from pop-up craft beer and coffee bars, natural wines from Wrights Emporium, and a range of local cider will be readily available.
So far, confirmed street food traders going head-to-head include Cardiff favourites Meat & Greek, Tukka Tuk and the British Street Food award-winning Brother Thai. The full line up of traders is now available at www.streetfoodcircus.co.uk.
