The talented Irish chef who won the Northern Ireland heat of the BBC's Great British Menu in 2017, has announced that he is opening a brand new restaurant right here in Cardiff.

Originally from County Antrim, Tommy started his career at the tender age of 14, working with his uncle Damien at his Legends restaurant in America.

Since then, he has worked under Michelin-starred chefs including Ollie Dabbous, David Everitt-Matthias and Richard Davies, and he is also the current Head Chef at 'Restaurant Tommy Heaney' based at The Great House in Laleston, Bridgend. In 2016 the restaurant won Hotel Restaurant Of The Year at The Food Awards.

Last night, Tommy teased keen foodie fans on his social media channels, asking for help naming his new venture in return for learning its location:

Other than this cryptic tweet, Tommy remains tight-lipped about what he's planning, but we can't wait to watch the details unfold. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Tommy!
