Like Casanova himself, this restaurant is renowned for its charm. It’s a bit posher than your average pizza place (in fact, you won’t find it on the menu here) so if you want the Italian real deal, you’ve come to the right place. The food is fresh, seasonal and delicious, so get set to impress your date.

It’s one of Jay Rayner’s favourite Cardiff restaurants and pretty much everyone else agrees. The Potted Pig is often booked up weeks in advance so if you can get a table, you’ll automatically win brownie points with your date. Prepare to pig out (literally – the restaurant’s famed for its suckling pig) and if the food isn’t enough to impress, you can also enjoy a drink or three from the extensive gin vault.

The restaurant itself is an Instagrammer’s paradise and that’s before you even get to the food which is hearty and heavenly (think Welsh with a French twist) and can be washed down with something from the extensive wine list.
