It's no secret that Bristol has got a bountiful supply of utterly delicious burger restaurants. From the legendary Asado to the longstanding institution that is Burger Joint, to the super on-trend new Oowee Vegan – everybody's got their favourite. One patty-slinging establishment that holds a very special place in Team Wriggle's collective, greedy heart is Squeezed – and it seems that we're not the only ones who are big fans of Alex and the rest of the Squeezed team's work.

That's right: Bristol's smallest burger restaurant has made it to the Grand Final of the National Burger Awards 2019!

At this patty-filled, prestigious event (that seems to be straight from our wildest burger-loving fantasies), Squeezed's heavenly 'One Inch Punch' burger captured the hearts, minds and stomachs of judges with its divine double beef patty, braised ox cheek topping, a generous lay of white miso and beef fat butter, super moist mushroom duxelle, and a slice of roasted tomato.

The judges were so smitten with the One Inch Punch that they awarded Alex and his team a place in the final 16, beating hundreds of other entrants from around the country. The Squeezed gang will cook live for the judges in London on February 20th 2019 in a fierce battle of the burgers that will test flavour, presentation and technical skill. The patty-fest will be hosted by Christian Stevenson – although you might know him as DJ BBQ – the man who rose to legendary status after his regular appearances on Jamie Oliver's youtube videos.

So, what the devil does this dreamy-sounding burger actually taste like, we hear you cry? Well, many of you burger lovers will have already tried the One Inch Punch over at Squeezed's minutely proportioned establishment in one of Wapping Wharf's bright blue shipping containers, and you'll be able to back us up when we say it truly is a simply stunning, epically savoury creation that packs a serious flavour punch (sorry). For those of you yet to experience the majesty of this burger – bad luck! The One Inch Punch is currently off-menu, as the Squeezed team regularly switch up their small but perfectly formed menu. Don't despair, though; we've got a sneaky – and very optimistic – feeling that the One Inch Punch will be back soon for a cameo appearance.

Everyone here at Team Wriggle wishes the wonderful Alex and his lovely team the very best of luck in the competition – we'll be rooting for you from back in Bristol!
