Mother’s day is upon us and the bombardment of tacky chocolates, cards and garage forecourt flowers is ramping up. If you think the mother-figure in your life deserves something a little more thoughtful, Wriggle recommends The Mighty Quinns Flower Emporium, Unit 8 at the new Wapping Wharf development. Blooming in 2014, Hayley has been creating displays, bouquets and everything in between for weddings, events and gifts and finally has a container of her very own.
Not only does Hayley offer some of the most seasonal and beautiful bouquets in the business, she also stocks and supports other Bristol independent artists. From funky plant pots made from recycled wood, hard wearing, handmade aprons and colourful watering cans to replace that battered jug mama keeps insisting on using, you are guaranteed to find something for almost anyone in this tiny florists.
If that wasn’t enough, her ceramic animal head vases and wall hangers are to die for. If someone bought me a ceramic sausage dog head with a fern in it, you would be in my good books for a long time. Also, don’t forget to pickup a card by the amazing illustrators from Bristol, Sarah Dennis, Hannah Bailey and Little Paisley Designs. I know buying a card online is easy, but come on, it’s your Mother. Get yourself organised, buy a stamp and support your locals. It is the least you could do for creating the worry lines, exasperated sighs and embarrassment your mum suffers to this day.
