Bristol is famous for its dedication to festivals and this year is no different. Eat and drink your way through the summer of 2018 and remember to wear your stretchy trousers.

Bristol Food Connections - 11th - 17th June

Bristol Food Connections is back with a bang for 2018, and this time it's even better and bigger than ever. Since its inception in 2014, the week-long, citywide festival has been celebrating the incredible culinary culture and characters of our fair city. This year with a focus on the theme "Time" there are plenty of city-wide events for you to get involved with. From breakfast on the 7am service to Severn Beach to enjoying a Portuguese Feast with wine and friends, you would be hard pushed to not find a way to get involved.

Not strictly a festival but well worth a mention (we hope) is the Stokes Croft Beer Garden coming this June. The organisers promise fruit cider slushies, BBQs, chilled vibes and good times all within a secret quarter acre of green space in Stokes Croft. They're keeping those cards close to their chest and with the launch date moved and introducing ticketing quite late into the game, we are hoping it proves to be as good as it sounds.

Moor Beer might be in Bristol but their founder Justin is 100% American. Head to their taproom this 4th of July and feast on proper texan BBQ from Smoke Catering whilst celebrating American independence from these fair shores.

Bristol Rum Festival - 7th July

Another shipful of rum is heading it's way to Bristol for the 5th incarnation of the Bristol Rum Festival. Expect tastings of 100s of rums from around the globe, lip smacking cocktails, expert sessions guiding you through the diverse world of rum and plenty of street food all packed into the Passenger Shed this July.

St Pauls Carnival - 7th July

We will concede that St Pauls Carnival isn't "strictly" a food and drink festival. However with the copious amounts of front yard jerk chicken and crates of Red Stripe, we would be wrong to not include it. After a rocky few years concerning funding and permits, St Pauls Carnival is back and promises to be the best one yet. Expect parades, live music, dancing and the ultimate celebration of afro-caribbean culture possibly in the UK!

VIVA! Are a vegan charity trying to bring attention and the end to the plight of farmed animals. At this festival hosted on College Green and the City Hall. Outside you will find live music, hot food vendors, a huge marque and vegan food and gifts. Inside brings more stalls, cooking demos and free yoga classes for those that wish to try them!

Summer doesn't officially start in Bristol until the Harbour Festival starts. Think live music, boats, fireworks, and live demonstrations including Newfoundland life saving dogs and the  above firefighting boat. It's a free event and has plenty to do so make sure you head down for at least a few hours this July.

The Coffee House Project - 7th September

If you prefer your buzz in the shape of caffine, this is the festival for you! Bristols first coffee fest aims to focus on all things coffee beans including the procurement, roasting, tasting and various brewing techniques avaliable. There will also be street food, live demonstrations, DJ's and plenty of samples that you can sneak into your free tote bag, filled with goodies. This will be your chance to see whats new in Bristols favourite hot drink, chat to the experts and down an espresso martini or two.

Bristol Thai Festival - 8th September

Fancy a taste of Thailand but can't afford the air fare? Head to this fabulous festvial at the Ampitheatre this September. The festival starts with a traditional food offering to Buddhist monks and entertainment throughout the day including traditional music and dancing, Muay Thai boxing, Thai beer garden, Thai food and produce stalls, Thai massage and children's play area.

Bristol Craft Beer Festival - 15th September

Rounding of what we hope is a hot and heavy summer is the Bristol Craft Beer Festvial! Always a great time to meet some brewers, try something a bit different and have a rawkous good time. This festival showcases what puts Bristol at the forefront of the worldwide craft beer scene - it's creativity and independent spirit. With representation from Wild Beer Co, Wiper & True, Lost & Grounded, Left Handed Giant and many more still to be announced - it really is time to hail the ale!
