Looking for something a bit different for your next date night? Keen to break the habit of spending your evenings browsing Netflix for hours on end? Or perhaps you're a thrill-seeking, terror-loving fear junkie? Whatever your motivations, we've got a cracking new event for you, from the magnificent Red Rope Theatre Company. We've just added an oh-so-scary, spine-chilling, hair-raising performance of Mary Shelley's classic gothic novel, Frankenstein, performed in the stunning, but more than a lil' bit spooky chapel in Arnos Vale Cemetery.
Adapted from Mary Shelley's chilling gothic novel by the award-winning writer Matt Grinter, The Red Rope Theatre Company invite you to hear a tale that’s been told for over 200 years.
A story of creation, rejection, love and disaster. In an attempt to defy death, Frankenstein creates a creature, a monster that is both childlike in its innocence but repulsive in its form. The horror stricken Frankenstein drives out the bewildered monster into an unforgiving world where it is met with cruelty and pain wherever it goes.
Broken and desperate, the creature determines to cause its creator the same crippling pain, and those that Doctor Frankenstein loves the most will be the ones to suffer. Parental rejection, body dysmorphia, prejudice, scientific responsibility, revenge and the nature of good and evil are deep-rooted in this horrific yet tragic classic tale.
The grounds of Arnos Vale are dark and uneven, so please wear sensible shoes and you may also want to bring a torch to help you see better whilst walking. The Chapel can get cold in winter so make sure you bring a coat, too! Late arrivals will not be allowed into the performance. The show runs at approximately 1hr 15mins, with no interval. The performance is not interactive – it's spooky enough!
