Discover the ancient craft of enamelling - the fusion of glass, copper and fire. In this hands-on 6-week workshop, you will learn how to enamel on to copper, using powdered enamels and liquid industrial enamel, creating a series of jewellery and enamelled tiles. The course will continue to develop your skills in enamel and metal work, to create a glass and enamel chandelier, created from 100% recycled and sustainable materials.
Over the six weeks, the course will explore a range of enamelled techniques, including experimenting with ceramic decals, and the chance to design and print your own ceramic decals. It's the perfect after-work activity to enjoy some you-time, and finish up with some seriously stylish, entirely homemade creations.
Weeks 1-3: you will have the chance to be able to work on your own project ideas, with a tutor to support you through your ideas and project. Or, the tutor can provide enamel projects and ideas for you to work on.
Weeks 4-6: you will be working on creating an enamelled chandelier, created from recycled glass, recycled copper and enamelled chandelier discs and beads.
On your last session, you'll celebrate finishing your enamelled projects, whilst sipping prosecco and enjoying some nibbles, and taking photos of the work created.
If it's not possible for you to make one of the sessions (it is holiday season after all), you can discuss adding an extra one-on-one session for you to catch up on your projects. Your ticket includes all materials.
The course is run by Jessica's Jewellery who is a a UK based enamel designer specialising in a cultural design led process, and developing collaborations within communities, the education sector and charities. This event has been created in collaboration with Pop-Up Brighton.
