With the hottest day on record in the UK feeling like a mere memory now that the clouds have returned, we’re turning our attention overseas for some inspiration this summer, and have been seeking some of the best Spanish-inspired spots in town. If we will it hard enough, maybe the sun will come back out to play, right? As a result of our painstaking research, we’ve rounded up some of the best tapas and Spanish restaurants across Brighton and Hove, so that you can enjoy a boozy lunch or a Spanish-inspired fiesta no matter the weather.

Bringing a taste of Valencia to the winding laneways of Brighton, Casa Don Carlos spills Mediterranean authenticity on to Union Street, its red and white checked tablecloths abundant both throughout the restaurant and in the lane outside. It’s been dubbed the ‘best Spanish food in town’ multiple times over, yet its price points mean you can eat to your heart’s content without it burning too much of a hole in your pocket (or leaving more cash for some sangria!). We’ll let you decide for yourself.
