It’s with good reason The Potted Pig is one of Cardiff’s most respected restaurants. With its atmospheric bank vault setting on the High Street, a biblical selection of gins to wet your whistle and a menu of modern British cooking, Tom Furlong and Gwyn Myring’s restaurant has been described as a “gift to the city” by the eminent restaurant critic Jay Rayner.
Menus change with the seasons but the signature potted pig starter, served with toast and pickles is a mainstay. Unsurprisingly, pork features heavily across the menu with dishes like crispy pigs ear salad with boudin noir and a sharing plate of mustard glazed ham hock also putting in an appearance. For a special meal in Cardiff’s city centre, The Potted Pig is probably without peer.
