At Stag Coffee, there is a strong emphasis on great affordable food, indulgent beverages and stags. Lots of them. Former manager of the Woodvill, Dave has thoroughly adorned the cafe with all things stag, lampshades, lamp bases, wallpaper, stag heads and a chandelier made from antlers. Dave says he borrowed the stag theme from the logo of a local barbers and with mains at under £5 this place is certainly a snip!
The Stag uses Coal Town Roast, with 100% speciality grade Arabica coffee from South West Wales. Although they are thinking local here as the meat is sourced comes from Prings, the butcher's over the road, they certainly are acting globally with their world beating portion sizes. At Stag Coffee they call a mocha what we would normally refer to a coffee and chocolate milkshake with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. "Lighter options" are their heavenly Chorizo Scrambled Eggs or Scotch Pancakes with eggs, Bacon and Maple syrup. Their burgers are fast swinging the heads of Cardiff foodies and the falafel too is crisp, golden and wonderfully spiced. Stag-gering!
Delicious breakfast with good quality bacon and strong coffee.
Small, independent and very lovely place to grab some top quality food and brilliant coffee. Great atmosphere, service is fantastic and the garden area at the back is delightful.
We were disappointed with the food which was a shame, as we’ve wanted to try this place for a while. We had burger and chips; the burger wasn’t very gourmet, and the chips were frozen ones. The coffee was nice though, but I wouldn’t be back again.
