In keeping with traditional Greek values, this clean, bright and homely restaurant on Crwys Road bears the name of the family's matriarch. And very proud she must be, too, for this place is about as unpretentious and lovely as can be.
Every dish on the menu at Maria's is prepared fresh to order, and all the classics are present; there's hearty fare like moussaka and souvlaki, mezze (think calamari and marina (fried whitebait) - and of course, Greek salads bursting with sun ripened olives, juicy tomatoes and tangy feta.
Pining for a holiday but can't quite afford the air-fare? Book yourself in for a sunshiney meal at Maria's instead - it's just the ticket.
Gyros were super tasty and you could tell they use quality ingredients. Bonus was the Tzatziki came with more pitta bread so we were full upon leaving. Would definitely recommend, and would definitely go again!
Good and service very good.
Good honest Greek food with nice setting
Authentic food - tasty and generous portions. 10/10 for service - it's a family-run business and they're all so friendly! It's always busy so a great buzzy atmosphere.
A very good value quick and tasty lunch - with the added bonus of a beer! Cheers
It's impossible not to compare Marias to The Hellenic Eatery because they're on the same road and both Greek. I would say that the food is better at The Hellenic Eatery but the atmosphere and ambiance is much better at Maria's. This isn't to say the food at Maria's isn't brilliant, because the meze sharers were TO DIE FOR!!!
