There’s falafel and then there’s Falafel Kitchen. This unassuming looking café in Cardiff’s student heartland may be cheap and cheerful but boy, are you in for a treat when you walk through the door. It’s famed for its fine falafel and heavenly houmous but you can also choose chicken (schnitzel and shwarma) – and if you’re in the mood for eggs, try the spicy omelette or the sabich, also known as deep-fried aubergine and egg. There’s a fair bit for vegans too and it’s all clearly marked on the menu.
Depending on your appetite, your main will be served in a pillowy pitta bread or as a plate with chips or rice. Then help yourself to the huge salad bar, grab a drink and relax. Warning: you will find it hard to stop eating – even when you’re full.
