Why we love it

Hidden away in Cathays Youth and Community centre, Embassy Café was the first Real Junk Food Project in Cardiff. Though this venture has paused, the café remains a volunteer-led initiative with a pay as you feel policy. It's all good here, all ethically, environmentally and socially sustainable stuff.

As regular home to one of Cardiff’s most talented vegan/vegetarian chefs (e'hem, Simon Matthew) you can expect to find dishes like butternut and sage arancini with white bean and rosemary purée, or fennel with blood orange salad with pear cardamom. Innovative dishes such as okara crab cakes, or sun dried tomato and rosemary soy steak, made regular appearances. Oh, and look out for their heavenly walnut cake.
