Patron Francis Dupuy made his name in Cardiff’s food scene in the 90s with Le Gallois. He has since setup the mightily successful Pier 64 and his latest venture is an invitation for diners to share his childhood foodie memories at his home, Chez Francis.
The food is unapologetically French with bold, rich flavours dominating the menu. All the classics are present: from escargots, cassoulet, confit de canard and coq au vin to clafoutis and tarte aux citron. Cooking is from the heart and eating here highlights just how classic French dishes should be done – take note Café Rouge. With delightfully friendly service to boot, Chez Francis has established itself as a firm favourite with Cardiffians.
Wonderful food with great service!
The food was very good and service excellent, a very enjoyable venue for a birthday celebration
Food was excellent, and the red wines went down a treat. Plenty of people in there for the evening which created a great atmosphere and the staff were very attentive.
The best food I've tasted on cowbridge road (and eat there a lot).
