Cardiff Foodbank is a charity that seeks to help those who find themselves in food crisis for any reason. Individuals are given a three day provision of dried, tinned and packet food as a crisis intervention, for themselves and their household.
All food is donated by the general public and is sorted, dated and sent back out on Cardiff Foodbank's vans to their seven centres (open on eleven separate occasions throughout the week) as their stocks run down.
The Cardiff Foodbank provided food for 13248 individuals in the city of Cardiff last year, which was an increase of 15% on the previous year. People find themselves in need due to low income, benefit cuts, delays or changes, debt, bereavement, redundancy, relationship breakdown, domestic violence, homelessness, asylum seeking and many other reasons.
