Well, well, well, Wrigglers. What have we here? A classy but casual, sumptuous yet satisfying dining experience, full of understated panache (gleaned from experience in the most well regarded of fine dining institutions) but with none of the fusty, stuffy snobbiness? A place where elegance and a bit of old school glamour don't come at the cost of a small cottage in Devon, and where everybody is made to feel welcome?
That's right, dear friends. Step into the world of Wellbourne, where those lofty foodie dreams of yours can become a straight-up, stone cold reality.
This beautiful, classy bar-come-restaurant is built upon the knowledge and experience of its kitchen team, who cut their culinary teeth in the fine dining, Michelin-starred food world. Let's get something straight, though: there's nothing condescending or exclusionary about Wellbourne. The gang here have made it their mission to be as open and friendly as possible, and boy, have they smashed it. Whether you fancy a casual after-work glass of wine in their fabulously well-stocked wine bar (whilst snaffling a few of their top-notch bar snacks - think wonderfully inventive vol au vents), or you're planning on tucking into some tip-top, high-end date night deliciousness, Wellbourne is the spot. The service is immaculate, too: friendly, well-informed, but relaxed, and the food is exquisite.
All dishes are made using carefully sourced ingredients, with a great emphasis on quality, seasonality and top-notch produce. Wellbourne cure their own bacon in-house, and their breads are freshly made in their downstairs kitchen every day - sample both on one of their signature egg brunch dishes - some of the best eggs in Bristol, we have it on good authority!
