Why we love it

The Coconut Tree is one of those perfect places where you get to discover new flavours, where one bite transports you halfway across the planet and where the good vibes make you want to stay forever… or come back any chance you get.

The gorgeously friendly team at the Coconut Tree are bursting with enthusiasm and knowledge about the delicious street food of Sri Lanka, and will delightedly talk you through the brilliant small plates menu that's been expertly designed for sharing. A word to the wise: order a hopper each – the signature egg-based dish that packs a seriously flavourful punch. While you eat, we'd strongly recommend familiarising yourself with the Cocotail menu – the Coconut Tree's delectable range of sweetly feisty cocktails, which you can enjoy until late at night on weekends... did you say perfection doesn't exist?

The Coconut Tree is basically your Sri Lankan home in Bristol, where you’ll get some laid-back, family vibes and awesome, tasty food… Do we really need to say anything more?

Pretty quiet in a Friday lunchtime but the service was good and the food was tasty.

Tasty food, lively environment.

The food is very different, had lots of spices in it but sometimes when eating something delicate like the hopper having a cardamom pod in it ruined the taste as it left a bitter after taste which was off putting.

The veggie Kotthu was DELICIOUS. So comforting and eggy and carby and a little spice too! Definitely going to look up a recipe for this

Food was great, though service a little slow at times given that it wasn't too busy on a Thursday night.

Really delicious food and nice atmosphere.
