“We love good food, great coffee and warming tea – but most of all we love PEOPLE”. This is written on the wall of Station Kitchen, who are in business for two reasons: to create a warm and welcoming place for you to relax and enjoy great local food and drink, but also to give opportunities for young people (particularly those that have had to deal with difficult things in life) to volunteer, get work experience, train and eventually gain employment as chefs, baristas and front of house staff.
Owned and operated by the YMCA, this is an outstanding example of a not-for-profit community cafe which provides some of the best lunch, coffee and nibbles in Broadmead in the impressive surrounds of the attractive old Police Station building.
The food itself is highly recommended: an excellent local lunch spot and cafe, which serves popular cafe food and cracking burgers in a stylish, naturally lit environment. Everything on offer is veggie and vegan, with bold, flavourful dishes that everyone will enjoy.
So sad its shutting down
Awesome coffee, cake and service! So sad it's closing down soon!
I love the station kitchen, the food is always fresh and delicious and the organisation are super cool.
The Station Kitchen (in its current form) closes on the 27th September. It has consistently great vegetarian and vegan food of really generous portion sizes. Get over there for your last chance to see.
Real shame the station is closing. Very sad
First time I've ever been to Station Kitchen and will certainly be back. Great atmosphere, tasty food at a reasonable price. Yum!
