Spuntino is the latest member of Wapping Wharf – that most incredible community of fantastic independent food and drink producers – to join the Wriggle family, and we couldn't be happier about it.
Spuntino, meaning 'snack' in Italian, is an absolute beauty of a place. As with all the gang down at Wapping Wharf, Spuntino is small but perfectly formed, physically contained within a cluster of repurposed shipping containers but overflowing with its own unique vibe. Spuntino is one of the luckiest of the lot, in that it also boasts a gorgeous terrace whose serious sun-trap skills during warmer months, and incredible panoramic views across the harbour make it one of the most underrated spots to enjoy some after-work drinks.
Inside, the atmosphere, styling, food and drink are simply lush. Spuntino cook delicious, hearty, Italian-meets-Brooklyn-diner comfort food that we could eat all day long. There's nothing pretentious about it, but there are a few stunning, surprising twists on classic dishes that'll keep you coming back for more, more, more. How does the sound of truffled egg toast tickle your pickle? Or lobster mac and cheese? Thought so... These heavenly creations are the kind of dish that cry out for you to eat them, and we can't get enough.
The whole place has a glorious kind of faded elegance that's perfectly in keeping with the heavenly Italian-inspired Brooklyn dishes being served. A mint green, geometric print wallpaper is half minimalist Instagram blogger aesthetic, half Art Deco styling, and makes for a perfectly chic, relaxed place to enjoy some quality food and drink. Spuntino, you've got us in a spin.
