Shake Wrap & Roll is an institution of Cheltenham Road, serving up exactly what it says on the tin: wraps as big as your head that are bursting with tasty, fresh fillings, and a small but perfectly formed menu of breakfast rolls.
As anybody who's ever had the pleasure of eating there will testify, though, what'll really knock your socks off at SWR are those wraps. They're totally bespoke; you pick your size, add a base of hummus or tzatziki, and then go wild, picking from a dazzling array of fillings, salads and sauces. Absolutely overflowing with mouthwatering choices including onion bhaji, halloumi, chilli beef sausage and more, we can guarantee that once you've had your first bite, you'll be hooked.
Visually, Shake Wrap & Roll is a perfect little embodiment of everything we love about Bristol. Perched on the corner of Cheltenham Road and Cromwell Road, its external wall is adorned with a vibrant, colourful mural which makes it hard to miss. The story behind SWR and its current incarnation is also pretty heartwarming stuff; owner and all round nice guy Glenn took over the premises when its previous owner had enjoyed her fill of serving up grub, and planned to close the popular Bristol haunt down. Glenn launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising enough to renovate equipment and redecorate, also lowering prices and vowing to use locally sourced produce where possible. Meat comes from Oxley's of Gloucester Road, whilst fruit and veg come from the wonderful Full Basket, just five doors down.
After a wrap recommendation? We love aloo gobi with onion bhaji and falafel.
