The Pickled Brisket is Bristol's only salt beer bar. It's brought to you by husband and wife team Robin and Flora, who, having built up a reputation on the Bristol streetfood scene, are now doing their beefy-thing from a container at Cargo 2, at Wapping Wharf.
Robin was brought up on the best salt beef in the country, eating in salt beef bars such as Selfridges' Brass Rail and the famous Brick Lane Beigel Bake. When he moved to Bristol there wasn't anywhere he could get the type of salt beef that truly reminded him of what salt beef was about while he was growing up. So The Pickled Brisket was born.
They cure locally sourced beef farmed on the Somerset Levels and serve it on bread from a local family bakery. They even have their own mustard produced here in Bristol by Gingerbeard's Preserves. Each sandwich is carved to order to provide a hot salt beef sandwich that would be fit to grace the plate of any New York deli. They serve a variety of different hot salt beef treats including their famous Reuben with blow torched Swiss Cheese.
Great value for money and delicious food.
Really good deal. Lovely food and helpful staff. Would recommend highly.
Salt beef was really juicy and tender. Friendly man serving. I added extra cheese which made it even better. Defiantly going back soon
Really good Salt beef. Great pickles. The also have a great selection of Gingerbeard preserves available to buy.
Really tasty toasties and lovely, friendly lady! it is a very small unit at Whapping wharf so takeaway is best, although we were lucky and managed to perch on the vacant little bench as it was very cold outside.
Fantastic reubens. Go large. It is worth it!
