NOA Japanese

12-13 Waterloo Street, Clifton, Bristol BS8
0117 973 2881

Why we love it?

Our taste for Asian cuisine has hit an all time high, reflected in the plethora of restaurants inspired by the continent. NOA Japanese has given it a fresh face, serving a modern tapas-style menu and refreshing cocktails in a funky space.

Reading NOA's menu feels like being sucked into Shibuya crossing in central Tokyo. Printed in manga-style graphic novel panelling, it lists huge offering of dishes in funky font, alongside colourful illustrations and cute quotations.

Don't be fooled by the frivolity of NOA - this is seriously good food. The sushi and sashimi is expertly prepared, and the sake list has been handpicked to appeal to diners unfamiliar with this premium spirit. An evening spent here should be marked with a final Tokyo Iced Tea from the bar, drank after shouting "kampai!" in celebration of good food and company.

Wriggle Highlights
  • The sweet, sweet nasu, grilled aubergine made with homemade miso
  • The wise phrases of Japanese etiquette revealed on the menu
  • Minimal zen feel of the interior
