Step into Dhamaka and you'll be transported on a sensory journey right from the word go. With colourful furniture to give you serious interior design envy, heavenly aromas drifting out from the kitchen, and a gentle hubbub from happy diners, you'll instantly feel comfortable, cosy, and hungry as heck once you're inside. With a Michelin-trained chef at the helm, it's no surprise that the food at Dhamaka is utterly delicious – but what exactly can you look forward to? Modern, casual Indian food is the order of the day here, but don't get things twisted: you won't be sitting down to bog standard, oily curry house classics. Oh no. Whilst classic Indian cookery is up for grabs here (and it's bloody delicious too, may we add), at Dhamaka, the real stars of the show are the huge sharing platters – perfect for a date or mate night. Packed with heavenly, freshly cooked meat and vegetables that are delicately flavoured with the beautiful spices of India, these are perfect with a couple of cocktails – relaxed, filling, and fun food that'll get you smiling. Follow those bountiful sharing platters with a fully loaded curry bowl, served up with all the trimmings that you could possibly desire, and you're onto a winner. We love the Staff Goat Curry – sure, it's a bit of unusual ingredient, but it's utterly dreamy to eat. If you fancy another recommendation, the Wriggle team lost their collective minds over Dhamaka's 'Katacos' – a brilliantly bonkers fusion dish that combines the South American staple of tacos with the punchy flavours of Indian cookery. Mad, but delicious.
Really flavourful and interesting curry options. Some of the best we have had!
Have been here many times and the food never fails, it is yum. Whilst there are the usual “classics” we prefer other choices on the menu. Looking forward to going back
This was our first time dhamaka. We had been told how amazing it was but after experiencing it ourselves - I'd say it's double amazing!. Definitely going back
This is simply the best Indian I've been to in Bristol, and one of my all-time favourite restaurants. We came for a birthday meal and were welcomed incredibly warmly. The venue may not be as smart as others in the area, but it is vibrant and quirky, with a very attentive and friendly staff. Above all, the food is sublime. We had a number of vegetarian options that tasted delicious, incredibly aromatic and flavoursome. The menu is very varied without any real restrictions on the Wriggle deal. I'd particularly recommend this restaurant to veggies - there's no compromise here!
Amazing service - so knowledge about the food and even suggested a new cocktail for us to try. Really tasty food, loved the street food starters and good portion sizes, couldn't recommend more!
Great place for a relaxed curry night, with food much better than most in Bristol.
