Quite simply, the food at Chilli Daddy is fantastic. It has to be... After all, how else could it be so amazingly popular despite its curiously-odd decoration and frequently abrupt service. Don't let that put you off – the decoration and occasional bluntness adds to the authenticity – and the food is pure Szechuan gold.
For mains you'll take your pick between monumental rice and noodle dishes served with beef, pork or tofu and aromatic sauces. Portions could easily serve two if you had the will-power to share (which you won't).
Whilst you wait, read the story of Dr Weng (charmingly laid out to read on plaques from right-to-left) and how he was inspired by the cooking of his grandmother, herself saved from starving by a small bowl of noodles from a neighbour in 50s China. Inspirational and stunningly delicious in equal measure.
