We're an enthusiastic bunch at Wriggle. We can't get enough of Bristol's glorious food scene, we've an unashamed affection for a deft touch of the old vernacular (if you hadn't noticed...) and we tend to feel all warm and fuzzy when we start working with passionate indies. You'll understand our glee, then, when we stumbled (quite by accident) upon Basil&Co: a smile-inducing-fusion of all the above and somewhere that team Wriggle will most certainly be frequenting in a more purposeful manner from now on.
An oasis of comforting brekkie baps, Bristol-roasted coffee served with Adriatic flair and memorably tasty lunch bites, Basil&Co (or Basilico, if you're Italian!) is the best daytime food opening on Redcliff Street since the sad departure of Rebel Roll in 2017. Although noticeably different to RR in form and function, this little café inhabits the same hallowed building - and its deep-filled ciabatta subs, authentic piadinas and fresh risottos have satisfied the area's craving for delicious, affordable simplicity in much the same way as their predecessor.
Expect fluffy Italian subs overflowing with mozzarella, antipasti and mamma's-recipe slow-cooked-n-marinated pulled meats. Expect Old-Country-New-York style deli fillings. Expect wraps, baps, patisserie and proper risotto (served warm and priced sensibly). Oh, and expect a warm welcome from owner Davide. Ciao!
Lovely staff and belting sarnies.
Friendly staff, nice spot to sit outside and the subs are great! A hidden gem. Pulled chicken and mozzarella is a winner if you’re hungry.
Friendly staff and food was delicious- very quick service.
Best pulled pork and smoked beef sandwiches in Bristol!
Subs are delicious, the home-cured ham and beef are incredible and the bread is spot on (not too crispy or chewy). Lovely service, not the quickest place to grab a sandwich on the go but well worth it. I’ll definitely be back.
Lovely authentic ingredients and very friendly service
