An absolute institution in both Bristol's culinary and theatrical scenes, we can't get enough of the Alma Tavern and Theatre – one of the best pubs in Bristol. Part of the legendary Zazu's Kitchen gang (you've no doubt enjoyed a pint or four at the Greenbank, or some delicious world-inspired tapas at Rosa in Clifton), expect a cosy, family-friendly atmosphere that suffuses a veritable rabbit's warren of hidden, cosy corners, board games, a stunning beer garden, and brilliant food, drink, and theatre.
Food-wise, expect a hearty, rustic and deeply delicious selection of Italian-inspired dishes, as well as a good smattering of pub classics including proper fish and chips, steaks and more. As if you could want more, there's also a cracking roast up for grabs on Sundays – dreamy. If you fancy a drink alongside your dinner (of course you do), there's also an excellent array of locally brewed beers, fine wines, and proper ales (and some pretty lush coffee from Extract in St Werbs). Bliss.
With an intimate theatre upstairs, an art space downstairs, weekly live music sessions and more; The Alma Tavern & Theatre are truly one of the most exciting, diverse spots in the city.

Very nice pub, lots of spaces to sit
Alma is a nice place, homely atmosphere, cosy, with good food and drink. Staff are approachable. Plenty of seating. The little box theatre upstairs is a great addition and makes a great performance space too.
Good show, great little theatre venue
The Alma Tavern was very atmospheric, the staff were very friendly and going at this time of year it had a warm and festive feel. We'll definitely go back!
Good intimate venue to see a fab production
I'm not a pub goer but this was a friendly and easy going place and I enjoyed the show.
