The last place on earth you’d expect to find a proper tiki cocktail shack – pitched corrugated roof, Hawaiian shirts, the lot – is behind a reserved stucco frontage on Regency Square. Yet here it is. Essentially the house bar for the fancy Artist Residence hotel, a team of mixology mavens led by Ali Bell whip up pun-tastic brews (‘Tequila Mockingbird’, ‘Kummel Toe’) in a chillaxed and discreet lounge beloved by the local cognoscenti. The hooch ain’t cheap – around nine quid a cocktail – but every last drink is strikingly delicious and served with panache. And strong. Like, proper strong. Wanna hear a cool fact? The bar incorporates reclaimed wood from the old West Pier. Swing by and say aloha sometime.
