Why we love it

The Plough in Harborne is not quite your usual neighbourhood pub. Forget the old-school patterned carpet, distressed furniture and dark corners; The Plough is a light, bright contemporary space that’s bringing a whole new look to your local watering-hole. Blending modern-vintage furniture with country pub aesthetics, The Plough is one stylish pub with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

But it’s not all about looks - The Plough is stocking some outstanding drinks behind their geometric bar. They’re particularly big on wine, with a list of wines by the glass as long as your arm, and a rare selection of natural wines by the bottle. Beer also plays its part in making The Plough what it is, with an ever-changing selection of local beers, real ales, craft bottles and tap-takeovers. They’ve got a knack when it comes to cocktail making too, and turn out some remarkably refreshing drinks. The ‘burnt peach and chilli’ cocktail (made with mescal ancho roasted peaches and grapefruit soda is one of our personal favourites, but their whole selection is just as inspired and unique.

You’re gonna want to sink your teeth into their mammoth menu. Crammed with all sorts of eats, starting from classic brunch plates (we’ll take the slow cooked beef brisket with poached egg anyday) and smoothies, to large plates (ask to hear what the Plough ‘dish of the day’ is) and burgers, there’s a seemingly endless offering to choose from. And whilst everything is hard hitting, it’s The Plough’s pizzas that we think rule the waves: fire baked, these thin crust discs of joy are served with a whole bunch of winning toppings and a sweet tomato sauce.

Alongside these daily eats, The Plough isn’t shy of hosting a street food pop-up or two in its plush garden area. All year round, traders take the reins in The Plough’s outdoor kitchen space and cook up a storm of street food favourites. More recently, Boca Grande were residents, serving vibrant tacos, frozen margaritas, mescal and more. Paired with some tunes from selected DJs, these events are unmissable.

Cool, calm and collected, The Plough is one trendy joint. Welcome to the modern drinkers paradise.
