Bulls Head is one of those really great local pubs that just makes you happy to be in Birmingham. The first thing you'll notice is the building itself: it's bloody beautiful. Stunning period features combine with all the modern comforts you'd expect: a huge bar packed with pumps of the freshest, tastiest beers (both from their own brewery, Davenports, and guests) is framed by tall ceilings and massive windows. A space for local musicians and guests from further afield takes centre, well, stage (live music is a regular feature here) and a tasty little menu complete with all your pub favourites. Look out for soul-satisfying classics including bangers and mash and ham, egg and chips – and be sure not to miss the handmade Scotch eggs, too.
On the drinks front, Bulls Head is a real beer lover's paradise. Owned and operated by local legends of the brewing scene Davenports, the team behind this have got more experience in all things beer than you could shake a long, hoppy stick at: 300 years of experience, in fact. The brewery was founded way back in 1829, and the Davenports team went on to team up with other heroes of the local scene: Highgate Brewery and Dares. Fast-forward to today, and many of the beers you'll find on tap at the Bulls Head are still brewed according to the historic recipes of the founders. History and a tasty beer to boot? You bet your bottom dollar.
