Conjuring a New York Speakeasy look and atmosphere, Bourne & Co is one cool place to sip cocktails.
Like all good cocktail joints, Bourne & Co feels intimate and exclusive. It’s a cosy setting, dimly lit to add an alluring air of mystery and sophistication. The space has a scattering of high tables and chairs, bunched tightly together to encourage conversation and storytelling. You can also pull up a chair at the bar if you want to watch the bartenders in action. On an average night, it’s a lively and laidback joint with groups sipping tall and short cocktails of all varieties. Now and then, Bourne & Co get a stellar DJ in to give the bar a punch of extra energy, and you’ll catch them hosting themed nights (the Peaky Blinders event was a real hit) for special occasions.
When it comes to their cocktails, you can expect something special. They offer a range of innovative but approachable drinks, marrying a mix of classics on their menu with a smattering of house specials. You’d be wise to talk to the team and hear their recommendations if it’s your first visit, but to be honest you can’t beat the favourites like an Old-Fashioned, Espresso Martini, or even whiskey sour. They also have a few vegan specials, including the perfectly balanced Mata Hari - Courvoiser VSOP cognac shaken with chai spice infused Vermouth di Turino, lemon oleo and acai berry.
At some point in the night, we definitely recommend trying their Zombie cocktail. Dubbed the “mender of broken dreams”, this packs a serious kick owing to the array of rums, tiki spices and tropical juices that go into making it.
This is a proper late night spot and keeps its doors open until 2am almost every night of the week. So no matter what the occasion or hour, you know you can guarantee a couple of quality cocktails from the Bourne & Co team whatever the hour.
Bourne & Co offer the ultimate cocktail experience, that’s as exciting as it is safe. Sit back with a classic and soak in the atmosphere - you’re going to dig it.
