Surrounded by a wealth of great food joints on Kingsmead Square, you’d think Yum Yum Thai would be up against some fierce competition. But this long-standing venture is in a league of its own.
It’s the simplicity of Yum Yum Thai’s vision that paves the road to its success: to serve wonderful Thai food. The menu is split into 4 straight-forward sections: in the wok, noodles, curry, and specialities, each containing a wealth of rich and hearty dishes, from Pat Thai Kung (rice noodles with prawns) to Pla Nung Manow (whole steamed sea bass). With an easy to navigate formula, it’s great encouragement to try something new and embrace everything Yum Yum Thai have to offer. You can also switch meat for tofu in any and all of their dishes for the vegetarian gang amongst us.
Even better is Yum Yum Thai’s passion for sourcing ethically responsible ingredients. Free range chicken and New Forest pork, locally sourced beef, and organic wines and coffee play a key part in their outstanding menu. And these efforts of sourcing only the best haven’t gone unnoticed either. They’ve picked up awards from Compassion in World Farming and are now proud members of the Sustainable Restaurant Association.
The modest and simple setting also resonates with their passion to serve straight-forward and honest cuisine. It’s an intimate space without the distractions and glitz some venues swing at you. What’s important here is the food and conversation; personable and homely, you can settle in comfortably for the evening, talk to the team, and explore some true Thai tastes.
