Obsessed with pizza? Then you’re going to want to make The Oven your spiritual home.
Led by the award-winning master pizzaiolo Fabrizio Mancinetti, The Oven is dedicated to making the finest Neapolitan-style pizzas in town by ensuring there’s a meticulous level of attention in their craft. Firstly, they make their dough with highly regarded Italian stone-ground ‘petra’ flour; this is top shelf stuff for those in the know. Secondly, every single one of their pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven over high temperatures to guarantee that beautiful puffy and slightly singed crust we all crave.
And then there’s the sauce. Forged from a closely guarded secret recipe, it’s impossible to know exactly what makes it so good. But what we can tell you is that it’s made with a lot of care and time if the richly sweet taste and depth of texture is anything to go by.
There’s a lot to love about the venue too. Open plan, spacious and bright, it has this real minimalist canteen vibe about it. A large built-in unit delicately displays gorgeous bottles of wine and oils on one side, nodding to their dedication and appreciation of Italian cuisine. The rest of the space is neatly tied up with industrial finishings; exposed tubing and lighting sprawls across the ceiling completing the contemporary look. The main feature of the space however is their bold red pizza oven that stands like a hive of activity in the kitchen area; the team constantly buzz around it as they chuck dough and divvy out toppings, whilst inside the oven’s flames mark each masterpiece with a unique signature.
We could go on and on, but the proof is in the pizza. So next time that craving kicks in, you know what to do.
