Why we love it

Need a holiday? Leave the passport behind and wander down Quiet Street to The Eastern Eye. Owner Abdul Hadi Choudhury serves Bengali escapism inside an 1824 Georgian marketplace. Here’s some insider knowledge for you: the statues on the outside of the building mean ‘commerce’ and ‘genius’ and, trust us, ‘genius’ is spot on. The list of dishes is endless on their conveniently colour-coded menu. Make sure you save room for pudding though; the Matka Kulfi Pot might just change your life. The Eastern Eye is also Bath’s answer to Hollywood (sort of)... Harry Potter’s Evanna Lynch, Game of Thrones’ Hannah Waddingham, Amanda Holden and even Nicolas Cage have eaten here over the years. Don’t forget your autograph book!
