We’re suckers for a hidden gem, so it’s no wonder we’ve been tempted into The Courtyard Cafe. Tucked away on Lilliput Court (a short walk from Bath Abbey), it’s not impossible to wander right past this hideout - but we beg you, next time you’re that way, keep your eyes peeled. Here’s why…
In short, The Courtyard Cafe prepare the creme de la creme of brunch and lunch dishes. Order the State Side Waffles or chorizo hash if you’re stopping by for brunch if you fancy something a little bit different. And for lunch, it nearly always has to be their Bath Rarebit with the additional Somerset toppings (apple and bacon bits). Wash either down with a flat white and you’re onto a winner.
They’re also tickling the fancy of sweet toothed locals and visitors alike, with a selection of cakes by chef Kirsty. There’s always a fully stocked collection including things like lemon and raspberry cakes, and chocolate and coconut blondies.
Another big plus point about this hangout: it’s completely weather-proof. With its cosy interior and covered courtyard, it’s an ideal spot to visit come rain or shine. During the summer months, you’ll find us enjoying their cool shady outdoor space with an iced coffee (or more likely, a hard-shake). And in the winter, you can forget about the cold by hankering down in The Courtyard Cafe for the long run with a slice of cake and a piping hot caramel crunch cappuccino. Whatever the weather though, make sure you poke your head inside and check out their funky geometric ceiling.
