Why we love it

Sub 13 is more than your usual cocktail bar. With a seemingly endless number of rooms, including a lively basement club and an elegant private Champagne lounge, the team behind this venture have crafted an immersive experience for all types of cocktail drinkers. So whether you want a quiet late-afternoon mojito on the terrace, or a space to dance until the early hours of the morning, this place has it all.

Their cocktails are on point too, with experienced bartenders pulling out all the stops to mix every and any cocktails you can think of. Dark and stormy? Yep. Bramble? Of course. Bullfighter? You bet your arse. But our word of advice, don’t stick to what you know. We recommend skipping the colossal cocktail menu and going straight to one of the bartenders for their advice; let them know what you’d usually order or a few spirits of choice, and they’ll be able to mix you up something special to suit what you’re into.

If gin is your thing, then you’ll be a fool not to pop into their intimate Gin Bar. Here you’ll find their vast gin collection that certainly deserves bragging rights; from classics such as Hendrick’s and Opihr to some more local choices including Wild Beer Co and Bath Gin, they’re stocking a lot of great stuff. Each is paired with tonic and a unique selection of garnishes to compliment the gin of your choice.

Try and get a sneak peek inside their hidden Champagne lounge if you can. Designed by Shaun Clarkson (you know, the famous interior designer) it’s an impressive sight with stunning chandeliers and art nouveau-inspired tables. If you’re feeling a bit plush, you can even hire the space out and throw your own party.

Next time you’re passing, make that the excuse you need to kickback with a cocktail - you deserve it.
