Why we love it

Originally an auction house built in the 1960s, the site of Hall & Woodhouse has become an iconic building in Bath’s rich visual heritage. Mimicking the surrounding Georgian architecture with its bright Bath brickwork, it’s a stunning venue with a robust yet elegant feel to it. But whilst Hall & Woodhouse is good to look at from the outside, the real magic lies within. Split into three floors, Hall & Woodhouse showcase the very best of British eats and drinks. Each floor is dedicated to something different.

Downstairs there’s the Copper Bar, with a grand, gleaming bar placed in the pride of the space. On tap you’ll find plenty of quality beers brewed by Hall & Woodhouse’s (under the guise of Badger), as well as an extensive collection of spirits to whet the whistle of those classy cocktail lovers amongst us. The wine list isn’t bad either; it’s as long as your arm and full of wines from across the globe (including some special sparkling numbers made right here in England). You can also order from their casual Pantry menu on this floor too, in which you’ll find their award-winning steak & Tanglefoot pie as well as the top notch H&W burger.

Head up to the second floor and you’ll discover the Dining Room. Built to be a more sophisticated space to eat and drink, the Dining Room offers classical simple British food made from local and seasonal ingredients. We’re talking confit duck leg, rose veal tenderloin, oven roasted cod, and cracking Sunday roasts with all the trimmings. It’s a fancy little spot to eat, with sparkling chandeliers, candles and slender wine glasses creating an old-fashioned sense of sophisticated whilst remaining contemporary and convivial.

To top it all off, Hall & Woodhouse really take things to the next level with their outdoor area. Their rooftop terrace offers unrivalled views across the city, and provides a much needed suntrap for topping up your tan with a classy cocktail throughout the sunny months. And with its string of festoon lighting, it’s a relaxed space to kickback long after the sun has set.

Whether it’s impressing friends with a cool cocktail, or a special date night dinner, Hall & Woodhouse’s pack everything you need for a good time in their multi-level establishment.
