In its former life, 7 Bridge St. was a chemist, evident by the engraved brass window-ledges that still line the shop front - and boy are we glad things have changed. Blue Quails Deli now stands in its place: the ointments and medicines have long gone, replaced by a vast choice of deli goods, sweet pastries and freshly prepared breakfast and lunch options.
This bright casual dining spot that’s guaranteed to be serving something that tickles your fancy on any given day. From classic cooked breakfasts (included a few full-English options and eggs benedict) to kickstart your day, to sandwiches filled with cured deli meats or seasonal soups, it’s safe to say that you’re spoilt for choice on any visit.
Our go to lunch at Blue Quails Deli is definitely their salads. With a fresh selection of leaves, pastas, grains, slaws and quiches on the counter everyday, you can fill your boots with a little bit of everything you fancy, culminating in a hearty plateful of savoury delights. Seriously, you can go big with these salads, and with an almost overwhelming choice, it means you can pretty much sample a bite of everything. That being said, we recommend you don’t go overboard - make sure you save enough room for a round of cakes afterwards.
As the name suggests, Blue Quails Deli is, well, also a deli. Almost half the space is filled with an immense shelving unit packed to the rafters with different chutneys, coffee beans, Italian wine, dried pasta and the odd sweet treat. It’s a really good spot to swing by ahead of Christmas or someone’s birthday to get some unique foodie drinks that are hard to come by elsewhere.
So whether its picking up a coffee and cake to enjoy out and about in the city centre or a speedy fry-up at the weekend, Blue Quails Deli has got your back.
